The Charter Schools Educational Trust in the London Borough of Southwark is looking to appoint two committed individuals with experience in one or more of the following key areas: Human Resources, School Improvement, Growth, Risk Management and Finance to join its board of Trustees in 2021.
The Charter Schools Educational Trust (the ‘Trust’) is a Multi-Academy Trust of three schools based in Southwark, south-east London. Our mission is to work together to ensure that every child in our family of schools has the knowledge, skills and confidence to live lives of opportunity and choice.
We do this through a collaborative network of high-performing, co-educational, non-faith academies, and by sharing best practice not only across our schools, but with our wider educational partnerships via our Teaching School Alliance and Education Endowment Foundation research school.

Each of our schools is at the centre of their local community, with all staff striving to create caring, responsible citizens, who make a valuable contribution to the communities they grow up in. What is involved?
This is a voluntary role and Trustees are responsible for:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent
The Trust board is the decision-making body of the Trust and is accountable and responsible for each of the schools within the Trust. The Trust is also the employer of our central services team and those within our schools. The role of trustee is a significant commitment which typically involves preparing for and attending a minimum of four board meetings per year, plus other committee meetings and school visits depending on the individual trustee’s portfolio.
